In National Hockey League action Sunday, New York's Matthew Barnaby scored with 21 seconds left in the game to lift the Rangers to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. The victory snapped the Rangers' nine-game winless streak against Pittsburgh.

Minnesota's Sergei Zholtok scored twice in the third period to give the Wild a 4-3 victory over the visiting New York Islanders, ending Minnesota's five-game losing streak. New Jersey 's Jason Arnott scored his first (three-goal) hat trick since 1996, providing the difference for the Devils in their 4-1 victory over the visiting Buffalo Sabres. Edmonton scored two goals late in regulation to rally past the Phoenix Coyotes 4-3, snapping an 11-game winless streak on the road.

In other NHL games Sunday, Mike Modano of Dallas scored a goal and had four assists to lead the Stars to a 5-1 rout of the Mighty Ducks in Anaheim. And San Jose goaltender Evgeni Nabokov notched his seventh shutout of the season as the Sharks blanked the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 4-0, extending San Jose's winning streak to four games.
