Asian Stocks Mostly Higher,

Asian stock markets ended trading mostly higher Monday, with the key market in Tokyo closed for the National Foundation Day holiday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index soared three percent (314 points) in a half-day session, to finish at 10,833. The Hang Seng gained one percent on Friday. The Hong Kong market will be closed until Friday for the Lunar New Year holiday.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Singapore, Sydney, Jakarta, Bangkok and Bombay. Prices slipped in Wellington.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 134.65 yen in Singapore, up 0.17 yen from late Friday in Tokyo, and also above its late Friday New York level of 133.58 yen.
The price of gold in Hong Kong fell $2.75, to close at $302.75 an ounce.
