Indian security forces have shot dead two Islamic militants who had barricaded themselves inside a mosque in disputed Indian Kashmir.
Authorities say a gunbattle overnight Friday inflicted what they describe as considerable damage on the mosque in Tootigund village, about 85 kilometers north of Srinigar.
Police officials had initially believed there were three militants hiding inside the mosque, but only two were discovered.
A spokesman for India's Border Security Force said the slain militants belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad, one of the two Pakistan-based groups India blames for a deadly attack on its parliament in December.
