Venus Williams Defeats Mauresmo at Paris Open

American Venus Williams has defeated defending champion Amelie Mauresmo of France in a hard-fought match, to advance to the final of the Paris Open tennis tournament in France.
The top-seeded Williams lost the first set Saturday before battling back for a 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 victory against the hard-hitting Mauresmo. The world number-two Williams will play fourth-seeded Yugoslavian teenager Jelena Dokic in the final.
The 18-year-old Dokic advanced earlier in the day by beating fifth-seeded American Monica Seles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. It was her first victory over the American player in five matches.
