Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan celebrates his 91st birthday Wednesday and sets a new record, becoming the longest-living Former U.S. president.
Until Wedensday, the second president, John Adams, held the longevity record, dying in 1826 just short of his 91st birthday.
The 40th president, Mr. Reagan left office in 1989, and has been scarcely seen in public since he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
His office says he and his wife Nancy plan a quiet birthday celebration with chocolate cake in their Los Angeles home.
It says Mr. Reagan has received more than 1,000 birthday cards, including from the U.S. sailors and airmen aboard the Virginia-based aircraft carrier named for him.
