Officials say a gas explosion in a coal mine in southern Poland has left at least ten miners dead.
The explosion occurred early Wednesday some 700 meters under ground in the town of Jastrzebie Zdroj, about 300 kilometers southwest of Warsaw.
Authorities could not confirm whether the blast was caused by methane gas or coal dust.
An investigation is underway.
