Vietnam says nearly 100 tribespeople have crossed illegally into Cambodia, complicating U.N. efforts to repatriate more than 1,000 others already in Cambodian refugee camps.

The official Vietnam News Agency says 81 people from the Ede, Gia Rai and M'nong tribes crossed into Cambodia from Vietnam's Central Highland province of Daklak on Sunday. The report says the group had been incited by what it called "bad elements" to leave Vietnam.

The latest departures come days after a U.N. team completed a visit to the Central Highlands to pave the way for the return of tribespeople who fled to Cambodia last year.

Vietnam, Cambodia and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees reached an accord in Phnom Penh last month for the repatriation of the refugees who fled during a government crackdown on protests over land and religious rights.
