Turkish authorities have launched investigations against two building companies accused of violating safety standards, in the wake of Sunday's deadly earthquake, which killed 44 people in the western Afyon region.
Officials say more than 300 people were injured in the tragedy.
Prosecutors in the city of Cay said Tuesday, they want to examine allegations the two companies built substandard buildings, causing them to crumble like decks of cards when the earthquake struck.
The building companies have yet to react to the allegations.
Meanwhile, relief workers are continuing efforts to provide shelter and relief to the thousands of people made homeless by the quake. Many people in Cay and the town of Sultandagi are sleeping outside, in freezing weather. More than 600 buildings were destroyed or damaged in the quake.
