Ethnic fighting has erupted again in Nigeria's commercial center, Lagos, after weekend violence there killed more than 20 people.Witnesses say overnight fighting left more bodies on the streets in the Mushin district of Lagos and drove scores of people from their homes. They say dozens of building were set on fire.
The number of casualties in today's violence was not immediately known.
The clashes broke out Saturday between Nigeria's northern Hausa and southern Yoruba ethnic groups. Police -- who returned to duty following a one-day strike -- put down the violence on Sunday.
It is not clear what sparked the fighting. Some blamed the violence on street gangs. Police say members of the two ethnic groups threw rocks and bottles at each other and set fire to homes and shops.
The clashes are the latest blow to Nigeria, which is still reeling from the deaths of at least one-thousand people after last week's explosions at a Lagos munitions dump.
