The Sacramento Kings have the best record in the National Basketball Association. The Kings beat the Minnesota Timberwolves Sunday, 112-107, for their 17th win in 18 games. It was only the third loss in 22 home games for the Timberwolves. Chris Webber had 31 points and 14 rebounds for Sacramento. Kevin Garnett scored 32 for Minnesota.
The Los Angeles Lakers continued their mastery of the Dallas Mavericks, winning 101-94 in Dallas. Shaquille O'Neal scored 31 points, and had 13 rebounds and six assists. Kobe Bryant helped out with 24 points. The Lakers have won 26 of their last 27 meetings with the Mavericks.
Michael Jordan scored 23 points, and Richard Hamilton had 21, to help the Washington Wizards defeat the Indiana Pacers, 109-89, Sunday. Previously, the Pacers had beaten Washington six straight times and in 15 of their last 16 meetings.
David Robinson scored a season-high 27 points, as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Orlando Magic in overtime, 105-98. San Antonio rallied from a four-point deficit in the final 45 seconds of regulation.
In a battle to avoid last place in the Atlantic Division, the Miami Heat beat the New York Knicks, 94-83. Alonzo Mourning scored 21 points for Miami.
The Boston Celtics ended a three-game losing streak, beating the Los Angeles Clippers, 104-91.
Baron Davis had 18 points and 10 assists, leading the Charlotte Hornets past the Memphis Grizzlies, 97-79. The Hornets have won three in a row, and the Grizzlies have lost three straight.
Anfernee Hardaway scored with two seconds left, to give the Phoenix Suns a 98-97 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Chicago Bulls, 101-96.
