A South African court has ordered Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, the ex-wife of former president Nelson Mandela, to vacate a house the couple once shared in Soweto.
A local newspaper reports Johannesburg Judge Pieter Pauw rejected Ms. Madikizela-Mandela's legal challenge to her former husband's transfer of the home to a private group, and he ordered her evicted from the premises.
The house, now a museum and popular tourist attraction, had been rented by the Mandelas prior to the former president's 27-year term in an apartheid prison. Mr. Mandela purchased the house after his release from jail in 1990. He later donated it to the Soweto Heritage Foundation.
The decision is the latest of Ms. Madikizela-Mandela legal problems. Last October, a pub and restaurant she owned was demolished for building code violations. She is also scheduled to go trial in July on charges of the fraud and theft involving about $100,000.
