Finnish rally driver Marcus Gronholm has extended his lead over countryman Harri Rovanpera after the second day of the Swedish Rally in Karlstad.
Gronholm in a Peugeot had a time of two hours, 12 minutes, 16 seconds and now leads teammate Rovanpera by 50.1 seconds. Melting snow lefts the roads slushy, but the Finnish drivers showed no ill effects of the weather.
Spain's Carlos Sainz finished third in a Ford Focus in Saturday's stages, two minutes, and 21.5 seconds behind Gronholm. Reigning World Champion Richard Burns of Britain in a Peugeot finished fifth. The Rally ends Sunday with five special stages.
