Hingis Wins Pan Pacific Tournament in Tokyo VOA Sports 3 Feb 2002 
Top seed Martina Hingis of Switzerland needed three sets to defeat third-seed Monica Seles of the United States and win the Toray Pan Pacific tennis tournament in Tokyo Sunday.
Hingis won a first-set tiebreaker, 8-6, before dropping the second set, 4-6. She finally won the event for the fourth time in six years by taking the deciding set, 6-3.
The world's fourth-ranked women's player also needed three sets to defeat Seles in the semifinals of the Australian Open little more than a week ago.
