France's state auditors issued a report Thursday that says the Louvre in Paris is plagued by a wide array of problems including mismanagement, thefts of computer equipment, and abuse of leave by employees.
The Louvre is semi-autonomous, and receives 40 percent of its budget from the state. In response to Thursday's report, the Louvre's president said the museum lacked proper funds.
The museum has been criticized in the past. In 1997, state auditors accused the Louvre of failing to seek the rightful owners of nearly 2,000 works of art stolen from Jews during World War II.
