April 2002 Editorial Mr. Arafat, Yasir Some spell it "Yasser" but the Encyclopedia Britannica spells it "Yasir", and probably those who know him best spell it "Terrorist". Mr. Arafat was born August 24, 1929 in Cairo Egypt. Does that make him an Egyptian or a Palestinian. One of Osama Bin Laden's top people was also an Egyptian. High in the ranks of the Taleban were people from a variety of Arabic Moslem states. These people also had infiltrated and basically taken over the Afghan government to the detriment of the average Afghan citizen. They were Arabs and they were Moslems but they were first aliens or illegal foreigners, opportunists with a a terrorist agenda. They were closely tied to Osama Bin Laden and the so called international Moslem fundamentalist militant al-Qaeda terrorist network. Mr. Arafat would have everyone believe he was born in Jerusalem. That way the Palestinians would deem him one of their own. It is a subtle racist appeal. It polarizes the Palestinians into "Us" and "Them". But it would appear Mr. Arafat is also another infiltrator into a populace wherein he can successfully work out his secret terrorist agenda. In 1966 Mr. Arafat became president of the Palestinian Authority, the beginnings of an officially recognized government for the Palestinians with an Egyptian terrorist at the head. It is rather interesting that a foreigner with an Anti Zionist upbringing gets up to his eyeballs in the beginnings of a Palestinian government. Also, since 1969 Mr. Arafat has been the chairman of the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization). That title almost says it all. The political strategy is clear. Use the Palestinian desire for political freedom to enslave the very people having the desire and then harness then to a secret terrorist agenda by exercising governmental influence to educate them towards that end. Thus they will, by virtue of that mentality and it's resultant actions, rob themselves of true political freedom and become slaves of terrorism. What a hideous treacherous agenda! This is classic exploitation of the masses to create a political and military machine capable of destroying Israel. This agenda began to become clear when Mr. Arafat became both an organizer and leader of Fatah. Fatah turned out to be the largest of the constituent PLO groups. As a result of his influence Fatah became a military arm of the PLO. His agenda slowly revealed itself. Such well executed behavior would almost give an objective on looker the idea that behind this agenda is an evil think tank. It is true that Mr. Arafat in 1993 led the PLO to a peace agreement with the Israeli government but as the popular expression goes, he held a bomb in one hand and a peace offering in the other hand. In other words, Mr. Arafat was becoming a terrorist diplomat and his influence was extending to international proportions. This became evident when he became the first representative of a non (official world recognized government body) governmental organization, the PLO, to have ever addressed the UN General Assembly. He won their hearts and minds as he promised peace and that appealed to the UN objective of economic prosperity and regional stability. By so doing he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Think of it. A terrorist playing politics and gaining international esteem and status for "promising" peace. Are we all really that gullible? Well it seems we are. He obviously learned from his mistakes in Lebanon which resulted in an Israeli intrusion. Of course this promise was only a promise. Many politicians understand the need to make promises in order to graduate upwards in the social power structure. These are people who cannot be taken on their word for they use words to to manipulate towards the objectives of their secret agenda. Almost everyone knows how politicians use words to convince society to entrust them with power. The politically correct thing for a politician is to tell people, as much as possible, what they want to hear. It is unfortunate, because if a politician was to keep his word then his political opponents would use his honesty against him to bring him down. Politics is a difficult path for an honest man and it seems those that are polished and politically correct do best in terms of winning the hearts and minds of the society that would entrust them with power. Fortunately not all politicians are corrupt in this manner. But it is a fact, politicians are measured more on what they "say" than what they implement. This is not so much a fault of politicians as it is of the society they must appeal to. This is why politicians avoid controversial issues because the attention is on what they do or have done and not so much on what they say. It does not take a lot of smarts to recognize this political dichotomy. But Mr. Arafat certainly knew how to wheel and deal in order to gain the confidence of the International community. They actually thought of this terrorist as a peace keeper and not as a terrorist. Amazing what a few promises will accomplish. Words are cheap. Integrity is walking the talk. We must examine all people in this way. It is how they "walk" not how they "talk" that is key to understanding who they are and what they are about. But let us flash back to Mr. Arafat's mistakes in the 80's. Mr. Arafat made a few strategic mistakes in the working out of his agenda and found himself running from his headquarters in Beirut in Lebanon into Iraq during 1982 where he won the cooperation of Baghdad. Another wicked alliance. But it helped to reaffirm his faltering leadership. Syria seems to have always had it's nose stuck into terrorism and they were upset with Mr. Arafat because he did not handle himself as a competent terrorist leader. Mr. Arafat survived this mistake and criticism and went on in 1989 to be "elected" President by the Central Council of the Palestinian National Council which was the governing body of the PLO and from that time the PLO tried to give the world the image that the Palestinians constituted a sovereign state. With this background in mind the events of 1993 seem much more clearly related to the agenda of creating a terrorist state adjacent to Israel which can be used to destroy Israel. Of course, there is no physical proof this is the main focus of Mr. Arafat's agenda. But that is how politicians succeed. The principle is "fait accompli". It just happens, it is not announced ahead of time. Based on the support Mr. Arafat is getting from the surrounding Arab states it may not be that difficult to peg the master minds in the hideous terrorist think tank. It is unfortunate that this agenda has escaped the Israeli people. It is not the Palestinian who is their enemy, it is Mr. Arafat and the terrorist "think tank" who have orchestrated this situation in order to destroy the credibility of the Israeli government and bring the nation into international humiliation. But think of it for a moment. What would any of us do if terrorists walked into crowded quarters of our communities and blew themselves up along with dozens or even hundreds of innocent men, woman, and children. How long would we be willing to let this continue while we talked and negotiated with the very leaders of that terrorism. But, yes, it is true, we are not pro active. We hesitate and fail to take decisive action until these terrorists do something of horrendous proportions like the twin towers in New York city. This only shows our gullibility and stupidity that we cannot see what is going on right in front of our eyes. We listen to words more than observe behavior. That is our problem. It is our weakness. We are too "talk" conscious and not enough "walk" conscious. Without any doubt or hesitation I can say in all good conscience that those in the EU and UN that criticize the Israeli actions would do nothing different if they were wearing the shoes of the average Israeli. If these terrorists walked into the major capitals of the world this very day as suicide bombers and pursued this course in a relentless fashion as was happening in Israel then these EU and UN officials who express so much admiration and sympathy for Mr. Arafat would be the very first to rout him out and destroy his terrorist infrastructure. Any why? Because they are in seats of power and relish those positions of prestige and power. The society beneath them over which they have control and power would demand such terrorism be stopped. It is a paradox that these leaders who so pride themselves in leadership capabilities and political prowess cannot see what is going on right in front of them. They have mysteriously convinced themselves that "talk" is more important than "walk". Based on these events it is easy to see how the world has inadvertently grated a terrorist the prestige and status of a world leader. By so doing, the international community is condoning the cause of that terrorist leader and has sanctioned his leadership as legitimate and in the interest of the Palestinian populace. Some "walk" questions for Mr. Arafat: From where do the terrorists come? Who trains the terrorists? Who arms the terrorists? Who builds a terrorist based Palestinian society? Who organizes the terrorists? Who does the intelligence gathering on behalf of the terrorists? Why hosts the terrorists? Who empathizes with terrorism? Got the idea? "Walk" not "Talk" is the order of the day. Agreements and resolutions affecting Israel and the Palestinians. Click here for the previous editorial Map of modern Israel |
