Venezuela - one of the world's biggest oil producers and a member of OPEC -says its state-owned oil company will return to normal production by mid-week.

Oil markets went into turmoil Friday after Venezuela's military ousted populist President Hugo Chavez.

After reclaiming the presidency early Sunday following a loyalist rebellion, Mr. Chavez announced the resignation of oil company board members - whose appointments had triggered strikes, disrupted oil production and led to his brief ouster.

Workers said the board members had no senior management experience. Bloomberg Business News reports Venezuelan government bonds plunged on Monday, amid concern the Chavez government will not attract foreign investment and will not boost oil production enough to replenish its national treasury.
